For years, the YouTube mobile app has allowed users to continue playing videos while they simultaneously search through YouTube's extensive library of content. So why can the same not be done on the desktop site without opening a new tab? Why does the site not have a similar function, allowing users to shrink one video to fit in a corner of the screen while they browse for another? Beyond that it made me wonder: Why is there not a universal way across each platform to organize multiple things on screen in a simple, customizable, user friendly manner?
Ideas:
that will allow the user to use multiple programs at once in a way that they find both efficient
and organized to their liking. This product is meant for any and all users of technology who
struggle with having too many things to do at once, with no easy and organized way to do so.
This app aims to give users more control over how they switch between the multiple apps or
programs they may have open and give them more ways to do two things at once. The key
component behind this design is that it will allow similar functionality from your phone to your
computer, allowing you to have the same capabilities across each platform.
-Jim wants something that will allow him to keep seeing his wife’s smiling face on facetime

Main Focus Points:
All of these ideas highlighted above stood out as highly compatible. Having the ability to customize a grid like layout to organize and simultaneously play different forms of media in a multi platform app for multiple operating systems would be a fantastic solution to a problem that plagues each OS in its own, specific way.

Design Defense
My goal is to create an app with various versions compatible with phones and computersthat will allow the user to use multiple programs at once in a way that they find both efficient
and organized to their liking. This product is meant for any and all users of technology who
struggle with having too many things to do at once, with no easy and organized way to do so.

-Jim wants something that will allow him to keep seeing his wife’s smiling face on facetime
while he looks up the news article he wants to send her. Jim opens the [Insert Name Here] app and
creates a new display layout for his iPad. In a few quick, easy steps, he selects the video chat
option and chooses where he wants his video x to appear on screen while he is in other apps.
Now, with this feature set, he can look up articles and text the links to whatever recipient he desires,
all while keeping his Facetime or Skype calls fully functional and visible in the desired area of his screen.
-Randy wants a way to overlay game walkthroughs in the corner of his full screen game so that he
can follow along and make all the right moves. He opens up the [Insert Name Here] app and
selects the gaming option. This will allow him to select a program to overlay in the corner of
his game without setting the game in windowed mode and dealing with the complications of
accidentally moving his mouse outside of the game window. If he has any difficulties with the
desired overlay blocking visuals within the game, the customization settings will allow him to
adjust the positioning, size, and even the opacity of the overlaying item.
-Knutoscha just wants a quick way to browse and select music to switch between while writing. To do so, she simply opens the [Insert Name Here] app and selects the music option. This option allows for a basic play/pause, skip, and back button for her music at the bottom of her screen, letting her play any music she has stored on her computer from there as if using a music app on her phone. It also displays a music library option where she can search for songs to play, organized in whatever manner she chooses without having to search through endless files on her computer to find the desired song.

Final Decision
My solution is to create an app usable on all available computers and smart devices that will allow identical function on each, letting users utilize the functionality of various apps and programs simultaneously in a way that is idealized toeach individual user.
