Interaction Design Project

For years, the YouTube mobile app has allowed users to continue playing videos while they simultaneously search through YouTube's extensive library of content. So why can the same not be done on the desktop site without opening a new tab? Why does the site not have a similar function, allowing users to shrink one video to fit in a corner of the screen while they browse for another? Beyond that it made me wonder: Why is there not a universal way across each platform to organize multiple things on screen in a simple, customizable, user friendly manner? Ideas: Main Focus Points: All of these ideas highlighted above stood out as highly compatible.
